Lemonade anyone? The elementary 4H club, Namaste Friends, has been been selling drinks at the Trumansburg Farmer’s market since 2012. The market is on Wednesday afternoons from May through September. This year our Namastea flavors are Hibiscus Mint, Peach Earl Grey, and Lavender Lemonade. This year our drinks have been prepared for us by Mama Said Café in Ulysses. Make sure to stop in and thank them for us!

The Namastea 4H project offers opportunities for students to learn basic food safety and service skills. Additionally, the student practice greeting customers and answering questions. They also learn to exchange money. The children help keep track of inventory and sales. Those students who are really ambitious can help determine profit! They figure out our profit based on the cost of supplies and the money we take in at the market. The money earned goes toward Namaste 4H Club projects. Those projects include animal care (raising chickens, showing goats and guinea pigs), public presentations, robotics, handwork, woodworking, arts and crafts, STEM projects and field trips to area educational sites. Some trips have been to the Johnson Museum, the Museum of the Earth, Cornell University, and area libraries. Annual 4H trips for the older students include a camping trip to an area state park, and a city trip to Pittsburgh, PA!
