Montessori deliberately teaches children not only appropriate patterns of polite behavior, but seeks to instill basic universal values and a global perspective within the core of the child’s personality. These universal values include self-respect, acceptance of the uniqueness and dignity of each person we meet, kindness, peacefulness, compassion, empathy, honor, individual responsibility, and the courage to speak from our hearts. These universal values are at the core of the spiritual development of the young child and help the children create a cooperative community.
The Montessori philosophy is international in its heritage and consciously seeks to promote a global perspective. The children learn about the world and the diversity of people, music, art, clothing, transportation, and ways of life. Students explore modern pictures from around the world, learn names of countries through their geography work, and enjoy diverse musical instruments and rhythms. In the elementary, the students learn history through stories and their own inspired research. The focus is on human resilience and achievements.
